Las Vegas Engagement Photographer :: Robyn & Meir

There is a dance that I do with my couples. A lot of them are from out of town… planning destination weddings in the wedding capital of the world…  and so we dance back and forth with one another via technology. An email might be responded to via text. A facebook message might lead to a slew of comments on their Pinterest board. And a Skype session might lead to them meeting one of my kids who can’t seem to fall asleep that night and want to know what Mommy is doing in her office.

But with Robyn, it was a good old fashioned phone call that sealed the deal. I was enjoying a night of learning how to write butcher calligraphy at the Layers of Lovely studio when I stepped outside to take a phone call from Robyn.  From the moment we said hello, it was instant.  Our friendship began immediately, and the conversation had very little to do with me shooting her wedding.  Instead, we talked about how amazing Gina at Red Rock Country Club is… what her flowers would look like from Layers of Lovely… how she met Meir and when could they come to Las Vegas to hang out with me!?  We both giggled at the end of the conversation, and I think that I might have said… “So I’d really love to shoot your wedding.”  And she said yes.  And it was just that easy.

I have now learned from shooting Meir and Robyn’s engagement session that this is probably how most of Robyn’s friends feel because Robyn is so amazingly easy to talk to, and she makes life seem as though it can be incredibly simple and lovely.  Which seems to be exactly what both Meir and Robyn also thought about their first date.

They met online, first, through a specialized dating service.  The chemistry was immediate over the internet, but like many have mentioned before… Internet profiles might not always be a realistic view of a person… so the nerves were thick when Robyn and Meir decided to meet in person.

But when they met up in a coffee shop… conversation, laughter, and life just seemed so easy.  They thought that there *must* be something wrong with the other person.  Dating on the east coast is definitely a different situation than dating in other parts of the country.  Careers are the first thing on young peoples’ lives, with dating being placed on the back-burner.  And finding an amazing person with a good work-life balance can be pretty difficult.

So, Robyn and Meir both thought that there had to be something that was wrong with the other person.  Maybe they would find out that one of them had bad dental hygiene, or slurped their cereal too loudly.  Maybe one of them owned 42 cats, or thought that streaking through Central Park was a good idea for a fun, Saturday afternoon activity.

So, they put each other to the test.  They switched wallets and they dove straight into the other ones’ personal belongings as though it was a window into their medicine cabinet, bedside table, and secret diary.

But, they found nothing.  Well, except for Robyn.  She found Meir’s Mensa card.  But apparently, Meir’s IQ status didn’t scare Robyn away… but rather, she decided to take on the challenge of charming the hell out of this very intelligent man.

And that she did.  With overwhelming success.  Just like she does everyone else in her life.View More: http://j-annephotography.pass.us/robynmeir

“Robyn’s Vince Camuto booties were so insanely gorgeous they deserved to have a photo all their own, below you can see this adorable ‘bootie shot’, not to be confused with an adorable ‘booty shot’… even though both make a cameo {winky face}!!”

We strolled around the grounds of Red Rock Country Club, where Robyn and Meir will tie the knot later on this Spring, and Robyn confessed to me that she was pretty nervous about Meir taking engagement photos.  She said that he is shy, and that being in the spot light is not something that he enjoys.   But Meir turned it out!!  He was so much fun, laughed the entire shoot, and took full advantage of the fact that all that his biggest task for the day was wrapping his arms around the love of his life and kissing all over her!  View More: http://j-annephotography.pass.us/robynmeir

Robyn and Meir, I can honestly say that you became friends the other day while we were shooting.  You are the type of people who instantly make others feel welcome and loved.  And that is exactly how I felt when I was with you.  May can not come soon enough.  xo.
