It is so easy for me.  So easy to fade into the walls of my home.  To spend my days without doing my hair or putting on makeup.  To just lay around and watch movies with the boys, or play trains and blocks on the floor.  It is too easy to allow putting on a tattered t-shirt and yoga pants to become my definition of getting dressed.  I often spend my days with a lump of a bun on top of my head… staring at my computer screen.  I spend my days playing with pretty photos to add to my website.  I create style boards for my clients so that they can rock their engagement shoot.  I send referrals for hair and makeup artists… help brides create the perfect palette of colors for gorgeous bouquets.  But amongst all of the pretty of my life… I forget about myself.  I forget that in order to think pretty; I have to feel pretty.  Of course, I know that I have a gorgeous life, and that I am a beautiful person (or, in the least, my husband thinks so)… but it is just too easy to get sucked into the world of being the mother of three boys who could care less if I have on lipstick or chapstick.

But if I’m being honest with myself… the days that I forget to spend a moment on myself, or I fail to get dressed in something more than lounge wear… are the days that I feel the worst.  I need to remember that it is okay to be selfish for just a small window of my day.  The house will still get cleaned.  The laundry will still get done.  My boys will still get fed and my photos will still get blogged…  even if I spend a few minutes to put on something more than yoga pants.

So, when life gives you peonies… make something pretty, blog the photos… and then go put on some pants.
